Budapest Airbnb community for medical staff
Name of the initiative: Budapest Airbnb community for medical staff (Budapesti Airbnb közösség az egészségügyi dolgozókért)
Organisation form: informal association
Domain: solidarity initiative
Target group: healthcare staff
Starting date: 14 March 2020
Keywords: airbnb, housing, COVID19, solidarity, medical staff
Currently unoccupied Airbnb properties are offered for free to medical staff (doctors, nurses) who would like to be isolated from their family in order not infect them with the new coronavirus. Other similar grassroots initiatives offering private (not only Airbnb) properties are also operating with the very same reason and for the same target group (Rest the Doc - A charity group to support health workers - Pihentesd a dokit - Jótékonysági csoport egészségügyi dolgozók támogatására: https://www.facebook.com…)
Free food is being prepared and delivered by restaurants, bakeries, eateries, etc., as well as private donations (coffee, drinks, home prepared cookies, etc.) being offered to medical staff during the coronavirus pandemia.
Frontline care providers in the battle against COVID-19 can experience overwhelming stress as they deal with traumatic events. Many in war and pandemic zones report that the daily grind is crushing, and the stress of carrying on can feel too much to handle. This initiative aims to provide support to healthcare professionals.
