Tirana is the first city in the Balkans to introduce the dockless bikeshare service. Mobike is an innovative bike-sharing service, smart and easy to use, that is changing the way of living in the capital city of Albania. Founded by Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd., Mobike is, based on their number of bicycles, the world's largest shared (for hire) bicycle operator.
The launch of this bike-sharing scheme in Tirana is the result of a sustained collaboration between Mobike, the Municipality of Tirana and other local stakeholders. Mobike’s sustainable and affordable solution is Tirana’s very first smart and dockless bike sharing scheme, and is designed to benefit users, local business and communities, as well as the city itself.
Mobike bikes do not have stations, so they can be found everywhere by anyone who wants to rent them. Their platform can be accessed via smartphone by downloading the app (App Store, Play Store). The app allows the user to locate the nearest Mobike and use different type of payments. Mobike can be manually locked once the user arrives at their destination.
The next user can unblock the Mobike via the app to take a ride.
