EatWith is a social dining service. A community marketplace offering authentic dining experiences in people’s homes around the world. Eatwith offers alternative dining experiences, allowing guests to connect with local hosts and enjoy homemade cuisines. Eatwith has been refer to as the "Airbnb of dining", offers a new way to eat while on holiday. EatWith was co-founded in Israel in 2012 by Guy Michlin and Shemer Schwarz. In 2014 it moved its headquarters to San Francisco while retaining its development center in Tel Aviv. The company also remains popular with Israelis traveling abroad while in Israel itself more than 50 chefs host tourists. The idea behind EatWith materialized in 2012, after company cofounder Guy Michlin returned to Israel from a family vacation in Greece. Having felt like all of the restaurants he had visited were inauthentic tourist traps, Michlin craved to a local dining experience.
Nowadays EatWith operating in 200 cities across 50 countries around the world. The team at EatWith starts by evaluating a would-be host’s food images, venue images, and social media profiles. Prospective hosts are evaluated through the community’s honest ratings and reviews, which are then scrutinized carefully by EatWith’s internal team.
